Veneers

You can get rid of the congenital discolouration of the teeth with veneers and achieve a perfect smile.

Veneers – Beautiful teeth without filing

Crooked teeth not only look unsightly but often cause dental disease as well. Inflammation caused by bacteria and the possibility of tooth deterioration is also high. Defects, discoloration, or deterioration of the anterior region of the teeth greatly affect personal aesthetics.

Dental Veneers – Functions and Treatment Process

Under the veneer, a thin shell, usually made of ceramic, is permanently attached to the teeth by the dentist in order to both beautify the teeth and give the original tooth appearance.

What types of coatings are made?

Generally, composite coating and ceramic coating are used. In the composite veneer, a tooth-colored plastic is attached directly to the tooth and then cured with a special lamp (treatment is performed with a special light source). To obtain the optimal position, the tooth surfaces are previously lightly filed. It is polished with a special substance after treatment to give the coating a natural shine.

Plastic veneers are often used to treat minor dental problems: for example, if a tooth is slightly protruding, it can be pushed forward by applying multiple composite layers (forming properly).

The second and much more frequently used type of coating is ceramic coating. It is all made of ceramic and is used for major dental issues such as angular and incisor teeth. In addition, ceramic coating is often applied to correct occlusion problems.

Ceramic Coatings – Treatment Procedure

Before the ceramic coating application, a treatment program will be prepared with our dental team in Turkey and your teeth will be carefully prepared. Then, detailed data is taken from your teeth and a temporary restoration is made if necessary. In the next step, your ceramic teeth are prepared by a professional dental laboratory with handmade and computer-aided 3D devices. Care is taken to prepare it in the most appropriate way for your personal appearance.

In addition to the structure and shape, the most suitable color is chosen to provide the most natural appearance in your mouth. It is temporarily removed and tried on your teeth. In the last step, it is attached to your teeth with a special bonding technique.

The general lifetime of ceramic coatings varies from patient to patient and depends on personal health care. Take care of your teeth and take preventive measures on a regular basis, such as professional dental cleaning (PCR). In addition, if you eat a balanced diet, you can use your coats for up to 15 years.

What is a finished coating?

In addition to classic veneers and composite veneers, there are ready-made veneers that can be made of plastic or ceramic (it makes sense to detail this part with porcelain types such as zirconium oxide and Emax). These are called prefabricated veneers, which are fitted and bonded directly to your tooth.

What are the disadvantages of coatings?

One of the disadvantages of a traditional veneer is the removal of healthy tooth material, which is necessary for the preparation of the tooth. Therefore, depending on the patient’s decision, a veneer may be required.

What is the general lifespan of the coating?

Thanks to state-of-the-art ceramics and effective connection technology, coatings are particularly durable today (over 15 years). The duration of use depends on personal oral and dental care.
